Vision on design
It is my conviction that any design act should strain after sustainable product development.
The goal of a company is to make profits. Those profits are invested in new infrastructure, people or knowledge with the aim of increasing turnover and profit margins. In this regard, product development - and thus the product designer – ought primarily to design products or services that bring in money.
Make money is essential, but works only on short term. Each company also aims at a certain continuity - preferably with growth, but this is not necessary. Therefore, we must also consider the impact of the decisions we make today on the future of the company.
These two goals are important and widely accepted and applied. There is still a third one.
Each company should help the welfare of society. This means that we should use every opportunity to increase the health of the environment, to create a better work atmosphere and social cohesion and to rationally use energy and raw materials. These principles are very applicable to product development.
As a designer I want to contribute to the development of smart and useful products or services that bring in money and continuity in the company and that mean an added value for the society. Therefore, I want to combine economic, social, ecological, technological and ergonomic demands to develop sustainable and valuable products and services.
